For TOPOGRAPHY, my skin has been ‘amplified’ and recorded with piezo contact mics at five different points.
The resulting recordings hav been manipulated then mapped to midi. The samples have been played, and then they have been processed 2 death. The original amplifications were almost imperceptible, now they have pitch, texture, dynamism and movement.
I wanted to create a piece that was personal, voicelessly making the body the locus of sound and meaning.
Additional textures were created by cutting up my writing on paper.
